Why should I quit smoking?

There are over 60 known cancer-causing chemicals in tobacco smoke. Whilst nicotine itself isn’t thought to be carcinogenic, the highly addictive drug is toxic and potentially lethal in large doses. Apart from its use in tobacco products, nicotine is a scheduled poison under the Therapeutic Goods Act. Along with nicotine, smokers also inhale about 4,000 other chemicals. Many of these compounds are chemically active and trigger profound and damaging changes in the body. Smoking harms nearly every organ in the body, causing many diseases and reducing health in general.

How can I quit smoking?

There are a number of ways to address nicotine addiction and studies have shown that repairs to the body start within hours of someone having their last cigarette. It’s never too late to quit smoking, but quitting is different for everyone and some people need more help than others.
