Crispian Jones, Psychologist – Cairns and Queensland
Hi, as you probably know by now, my name Crispian (Cris) Jones. I am the princpal psychologist at Seachange Psychology. I am currently based in Osaka Japan and working online back into Australia. I have what people often describe as a diverse professional background, as prior to moving into the world of counselling and psychology, around 1984 or so, I worked variously as a commercial pilot operating throughout Northern Australia and PNG, a musician in the Australian Army in Canberra, and a factory hand at Peter’s Ice Cream factory and delivery driver for Tip Top Bakeries, both in Perth.
My diverse range of life experience has seen me interact with people, across a range of socio-economic backgrounds, different cultures and industries. These experiences have equipped me in my role as a psycholgist, to work with and relate well to people, from all walks of life, no matter their background.
My early training in Psychology was based on Gerard Egan’s philosophy, detailed in his widely read work “The Skilled Helper”. It is his integrated three stage approach to problem management/resolution and opportunity development, that I embrace within my Seachange Counselling Practice. I seek to offer an atmosphere of unconditional positive regard and non-judgementalism, in a “do no harm” environment.
Over the years, I have continued to acquire and develop an eclectic range of skills, focusing mainly on those therapies which help you achieve the best outcomes in the shortest possible time. I work with a range of issues, including Loss and Grief, Trauma (motor vehicle, rape, robbery etc.), Panic Disorders, Phobias, Anger Management, Smoking Cessation, Relationship Counselling and Pain Management, to name just a few. I employ a range of techniques and skills to facilitate your recovery, bearing in mind that ultimately it is you, the client, who does the healing from “within”, with my help, from “without”.
Some of the processes or “techniques” used to help you as part of your healing are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Hypnosis and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, commonly referred to as Psychological Acupuncture).
Where required, and only with your permission, consultation with your doctor or other health care experts is an integral part of the holistic way that I like to work, to achieve the desired outcomes. All the services I provide and the skills I use are now offered on an online or Telehealth platform. See the drop-down menu that tells you more about that feature.
I look forward to being of assistance in helping you to “make your life extraordinary”
